February Mix: "2012"

Neverrain Listeners,
This month I bring you a set with such complexity that it defies any genre, which is always my goal. This set brings everything from progressive house, to breaks, to trance, to orchestral ambience. It is an artistic journey to a threshold of events that I think will occur in the year 2012. I prefer not to preach my ideas about what I believe will happen in 2012, but I do wish to explore it through audio as an artist. As a researcher of the Mayan calendar system, the "I-ching", and other timekeeping methods of ancient civilizations, I can only state that I believe something profound will happen in the year 2012. Despite numerous claims that the world will end in 2012, I choose to believe that something far more profound will happen....and this is my "auditory painting" of that event (For a visual exploration of my interpretation of 2012, please refer to the paintings that exist at 2advanced.com). Let your imagination interpret what it will, and enjoy the sounds.

Hello Eric!
I really like the end of this track. That was very interesting what you (did not) said will happen in year 2012. Is there any where I can read your view on that?

Eric your talent with sound has made you on my list as a potential DJMAG top ten in the near future. You now have my vote as number 1. I've been a fan of trance and electronic since 1995, so I have listened to the best of them, you are definelty a skilled mixer. Thank you so much I can't wait to see you live one day!

Listen, I've heard a lot of sets that claim to defy genre, but this one really delivers. Even after only a few minutes, I found myself completely immersed, questioning if I had ever heard anything as fresh, yet familiar. I've struggled with depression over the years. I kinda went into a cocoon after my girl left me last christmas (long story), but your music is helping me cope. I don't know much about 2012 or that history but I'm going to study up. Anyway, keep making mixes!!

Eric ...
I have to confess that it is really one of the best you have done it.
Actually I was taken to the year of 2012 listening to this set of songs.
It has no explanation!
Even more listening to these songs at a party, start to dance in a day and only end the other day.
Thank same.

The Mayan calendar system, with the Long Count in particular, as always been fascinating to me. While I find the entire Mayan civilization to be radical in terms of sophistication and innovation, the Long Count system is the one true element that has always been of certain importance to me.
Kudos to you for incorporating such an advanced civilization into your music. Love the set.

Eric,
WOW! What an excellent audio journey in "2012". I agree with you about how the Mayans were 2Advanced. :)
The date December 21st, 2012 A.D. (13.0.0.0.0 in the Long Count), represents an extremely close conjunction of the Winter Solstice Sun with the crossing point of the Galactic Equator (Equator of the Milky Way) and the Ecliptic (path of the Sun), what that ancient Maya recognized as the Sacred Tree. This is an event that has been coming to resonance very slowly over thousands and thousands of years.
I also believe that another evolutionary occurrence will take place in 2012 -- and not the end of the world.
Listening to "Aeon" and "2012" back-to-back really gets the mind going. I haven't felt that tingle since listening to "Shade" & "Aura" back-to-back.

I know we've heard doomsday predictions before, like Y2K, 06/06/06, etc, and I thought they were all crazy, but nothing seems as well supported as December 2012. Also, a once in a 26,000 year event, the alignment of the earth, sun, and center of the galaxy is going to take place, and scientists theorize a pole reversal (which has happened before) which could lead to global catastrophies... Thoughts?
December 12, 2012 may very well be an end of a period that is all. And, a time of great change. What I find in your "auditory painting" of that event is a pre-emptive insight unmatched by anybody today! Great work EJ.
he “man with delusions of Godhood,” who wanted to reshape nations but instead created enemies and eternal warfare and a staggering US debt, is George W. Bush.
The next President, regardless whether Clinton, McCain, Obama or a lesser known candidate, will have a tough time straightening out the economy, etc., while dealing with enormous debt payments and GWB's other messes. But, I dirgress, as I do not want to turn this into a Bush bash......
Hell, for some, the end of the world as they know it today would be a pretty amazing thing.. i mean, the world some see around them is violent, imperialistic, arrogant, commercial, consuming, wasteful, hateful, impatient, stubborn, and just plain ugly... and as far as the "antichrist" deceiving everyone, i personally believe that the institutionalization of the bible has deceived everyone, so i dont give a F**K.......
And then.......BOOM! Your music brings me smack back in the middle of bliss and all things lovely and groovy.
keep on keeping on EJ ......it's always good stuff. Say "hey" to JC Novak and crew from Pickle.
Peace....TAP ;~)
