August Mix: "True North"

Quest_July2007%28web%29.jpg

Neverrain Listeners,

Coming at you a bit early this month, very eager to get this mix out for the weekend.

I really tried to push the sonic envelope this month, and steer the August mix into a special place. I tend to do this every August mix, looking back, maybe it's because my birthday is this month and I am always reminded of a sort of rebirth or transformation. Nevertheless, I don't think you will find the two hours of audio that comprise True North "typical", it has a very sweeping set of genres and moods. I find myself constantly refining my sound toward an inevitable complexification and intelligence that I seek, not just in music, but in life as well. And if complexification can be defined as the density of connections, well then I suppose I am ultimately trying to explain the unsaid connectedness that we all share with one another. I think that is the defining essense and power of music.

With that said, I bring you "True North".

Enjoy the sounds as always.

Talk about an absolute object. What a great sound this mix has!

The name itself is very inspiring.

I was hoping I could download and listen the previous sets, as I stopped on Shade & Aura Vol.2 (fantastic by the way), but the "north" word got my attention in my email inbox.

Do you seek something in the northern lands Eric?

Also, happy birthday! I hope you get at least one present for every people you make happy with your monthly sets.

    Godspeed; Yuki

I think I will be playing this mix A LOT over the next week. It's so dynamic... right the way through. I am not good with descriptions, as I have stated before, but there is something about this mix which makes me like it above all the others. It's just so dynamic and there's a lot going on... all the sounds and beats, it's great. I really, really love this months mix, the name suits it really well, and as ever, I love the artwork.

Your are the best in Electronic Music, Mr. Eric

Posted by: DJ SAPHCom | August 2, 2007 08:58 AM

more-n-more this is the groove to stay with. So many levels of freedom within ones own intellectual pursuit of sublime being and complete adventure into the spiritual unknown!

F*ck! There is this one part about 3/4 through this already amazing piece of work.....it would be so incredibly interesting to hear a THX (their trademark sound byte that revs UP) type of transition...it is difficult to describe, but at some point during the the Sarah McLachlan "Silence (Delirium)" vocals...maybe towards the end of that part....there is already something similar, but the THX treatment would take it to completely mind blowing state!

Do you think you can release a "teaser" sampling with that worked in?

    I love this stuph!!!!

    Hi Eric,

I have to say that the music you assemble every month, in each set, is superb and it's what I listen almost every day when I want to ear some intelligent sound.

I would like to know where you find this kind of sound. Can you recommend any DJs that have a similar style of yours? Could you give a brief list of names, sites, etc.

    Thanks anyway.

    btw,
Your work is admirable and I'm looking forward to help your project buying one of those shirts. If there is a musical project that really needs and deserves support is yours. Count on me.

You might try Sasha, although his style has changed drastically in the last few years. You could give a listen to John Digweed, Elusive, Chris Lake, John Askew...those are a few to start with.

    Eric,

Your reply to the individual asking about others similar to you and the "kind of sound" was spot on! Absolute classics man! I remember quite clearly Return to Ibiza (John Digweed). What a memory, chillin' with Czech hotties on the island....it goes a long way. Your sound and style brings back only the best of memories in fact. Along these lines Sasha is certainly up there. I think that the best of show producers would be wise to coordinate Eric Jordan, Sasha, Digweed, Christopher Lawrence and others.....

Almost reminisent of a 'Sasha and John Digweed' type of movie-like experience..... fun to be had by ALL....

    Let's do this...... ;~)

As always, nothin' but good thaaaangs!

    Eric,

My birthday is also this month, Aug 25th to be presice. I wish us both a "Happy Birthday" month and many more to come. Really enjoyed the August mix, and will listen often, I'm sure. This is, however, my first post. Please... Keep those mixes comin'.

Holy F#ck! E, you ROCK.. I was up until who knows when. Just rocking away. Thank you. Back to maintaining composure: On a professional level - Thank you sir for such spectacular music, hip, funky beats.. You know what I like about your music: It's god dam different. It feels like it from Germany... it feels foreign. Does not imitate other styles, it has it's own.
