March Mix: "Shade & Aura" Vol. 1 - Shade [Dark Mix]

Neverrain_March2007_Shade&Aura_Volume1

Neverrain Listeners,

We all go through dark times at one point or another in our lives, but we must make it our mission to find our way back to the light. I wanted to create a series of sets that explore this through sound, not necessarily all in one set, but in a 2 part mix.

It is my pleasure to bring you Volume 1 of this special 2-part series I am recording for March and April, centered around themes of light and dark.

This month's mix is the darker of the two sets, consisting of tech house and tribal/progressive trance. I don't typically spin alot of dark material...so I turned to my collection of tracks by an amazing producer, Rick Pier O'Neil, who's many releases find their way to the shelves of my wall of vinyl. O'neils tracks typically lean toward a very dark progressive sound, but are so well produced that I often stay up to date with everything he puts out. His sound really helped me to construct the feel I wanted for "Shade".....dark, intelligent, and very dance-floor worthy.

Stay tuned next month for the emergence into the light, with Volume 2 "Aura".

So please, put on your headphones and crank the volume for the next two months on Neverrain.

This is "Shade". Enjoy.

i gotta dload this on a pc that has quicktime lol.

if its 80 megs how long is it?

and the cover art is sick. love the blue colors. anyway can u tell us what font it is? both the "eric jordan" and the "shade and arura"

plus is that u in the pic? looking fresh...

    Posted by: sam | March 7, 2007 04:54 PM

    Sam,

You don't necessarily need Quicktime to play the file. If you right click on the listen link you can "save the file to disk" and play it as a standard mp3 file.

The Mix is about 60 Minutes long.

The "Eric Jordan" font is AvantGarde Medium, and "Shane & Aura" is Astrolyte.

And, yes, that is me on the cover of course :)

    Shkumbin,

The font I use for the Neverrain logo is a custom typeface I developed called "Attractor". It's the same font I used for the Attractor logo in 2Advanced v5. The typeface is not available for sale at this time, but may be in the future.

    All the best,

Great mix! It is a sound that I really miss, and haven't heard in years due to the minimal trend of things. The mixing is top notch, and the track selection is classic. I respect the fact that you are standing by the true progressive sound - not too many are doing so nowadays. Do you think you may be playing a set here in Houston,TX some time in the future?

    Best,

    JPH

Gr8 set! These dark and progressive sounds from the likes of RPO are just so amazing and groovy. Keep up the good work, your sets are always well-produced and interesting.

Wow! I just read about your music from the LA Times West magazine story on you. I love it.

I've tried right-clicking so I can download the mp3 file onto my iTunes but don't see an option to "save file" "save target" or anything of the sort.

The only options when I right click on the Listen link are all about opening, bookmarking, saving, sending or copying the link itself. Nothing about saving a file.

What am I doing wrong? I'm on a Mac using either Firefox, Camino or Safari browsers. None of them offer a right-click save file option.

I so want this on my iPod.

    hi Rick,

in Safari, right click the "download this file" link in the little player window and choose:

    "Download Linked File"

it will download to your desktop.

then double click to launch, and it will be added automatically to your iTunes playlist.

enjoy, and thanks to Eric for another fantastic mix
